Knock, Knock
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
There’s no one at the front door
so around the house I tour.
It’s not the washer
nor the dryer.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
Is someone building at the neighbors?
I’m going to check out the back door.
I don’t see anyone up and about.
Besides, it’s too early to be out.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
There it goes once again.
I’d better check again.
I’ll check out back.
Be right back.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
I see titmice.
To see them is nice.
There’s also chickadees
in the big pine tree.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
I see who it is. He’s a hungry knocker.
Do you know who it is? It’s a woodpecker.
He’s eating bugs
and hidden grubs.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
Louder than a clock’s tock.
I’m glad he’s not in a flock
otherwise the noise would sound like rock.
So loud it would knock your socks off!
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
Knock, knock. Knock, knock.
After a high protein breakfast
this woodpecker flies away fast,
but the titmice and chickadees
still hang around to entertain me.

Please correct me if I’m wrong,
but I think these are words to a song:
“Who’s that knocking at my door?
Who’s that knocking at my door?”
The Bible says there is a door to our lips.
This door attains or distances relationships
for what comes out of our mouth
either tears down or builds up.
There is also a door to faith,
through the goodness of God’s grace.
Faith is believing that God knows best
and has a plan better than we can guess.
Do you realize your heart has a door?
It’s the door through which faith continues to pour
for faith grows through relationship -
daily praise, worship, and fellowship.
Faith leans on God’s Word
when life’s problems blur -
like asking why do bad things happen to God’s people.
Just one question we sometimes ask, as an example.
It’s not that life will ever be perfect,
it’s in knowing that God is with us
whatever it is we’re daily going through -
which is one of God’s promises, so true.
Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord;
keep watch over the door of my lips.
Psalm 141:3
...opened the door of faith...
Acts 14:27
I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
