Yesterday's and today's shadow photos reminded me of this story:
Shadows
As the sun rises in the east
shadows stretch out toward the west.
Surprisingly they enhance
in a mystical silent dance.
These shadows stretch and lengthen
before they sway and widen
in a slow dance,
a sun dance.
Midday they seem to be standing still
as the sun climbs higher; higher still
then these shadows are gone,
but not for long.
After a little rest
they reappear on their quest
to dance again
in step with the sun.
In the afternoon they dance in reverse
as they keep in tune with the universe
slowing stretching east
before daylight begins to cease.
These shadows won't stay long
as they dance across the lawn
but they do provide shade,
a welcome relief relayed.
As twilight
gives way to night
shadows quietly say "good night"
unless the moon shines bright tonight.
Shadows only dance in the light,
then disappear come twilight;
although if you're still awake long past midnight
they reappear under the moonlit sky bright.
Watch as they sway under the full moon,
in a slow waltz in a quiet ballroom
for shadows dance to their own tune,
a silent tune that dispels gloom.

Don't let those shadows in life
keep you from enjoying real life.
Those shadows of disappointment
which often lead to discouragement.
Before you know it depression sets in
and the real you has become lost within.
Dance through the shadows
for when we dance we grow.
Those shadows won’t last, they're temporary.
Their time is short-lived, quite transitory.
View disappointment as a step closer to appointment.
Let discouragement be a stairway to encouragement.
Allow the shadows of life to mature you.
Keep that dance alive inside you.
Live with anticipation,
a waiting in expectation.
Come out from the shadows.
Today, open the window.
You turned my wailing into dancing...
and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.
Psalm 30:11-12
Do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God
will be with you
wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
In you they trusted and were not disappointed.
Psalm 22:5
And hope does not disappoint us,
because God has poured out his love into our hearts.
Romans 5:5
O Lord, what is man that you care for him,
the son of man that you think of him?
Man is like a breath;
his days are like a fleeting shadow.
Psalm 144:3-4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me...
Psalm 23:4
