Titmice

For those who have been faithfully following the other blog, this blog will now take its place.  Thank you for searching for it.

The titmice are here!
They return each year
when you hear their
peter, peter.

Listen, you can hear
their song loud and clear.
Some might call it a jeer
though music to my ears.

Their song announces spring
is ready to begin.
Songs sung from sunup to sundown
makes happy music in my town.

Their crown mirrors
blue jays, that's clear,
but these creatures
have gray feathers.

Their crown is their pointed crest which peers.
On the top of their noggin it appears.
Their gray-capped crest so dear
is a tuft above their ears.

What are titmice?
They are quite nice.
Though you don't pay a price
their song does entice.

They are gray birds with a head crest
above their downy white feathered breast.
Is one a titmouse?  Two are twice as nice.
A bird feeder will more titmice entice.

When titmice you see, spring is near.
Chickadees, too, will soon appear.
The world is full of music
when songbirds again visit.

Next time you go out to work outdoors
take time to listen as music soars.
The blue skies and hedges are filled with song
from early in the morning and all day long.

A chirp is answered with a tweet.
A twitter is met with a cheep.
Caw-caws abound
in my town.

Sopranos
and altos,
tenors join in
loudly singing.

A symphony choir
practices on wires.
Though no band leader is in sight
their music somehow sounds just right.

This very minute I hear chirping in the east
and a squawking bird just flew by in the west.
Perhaps mimicing the cd player
playing as I compose on the computer.

Certain types of music provides inspiration
and an inner creativity and calming.
Music can be the soul's medicine
when it provides peace and calm within.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth,
burst into jubilant song with music.
Psalm 98:4

Sing and make music in your heart,
always giving thanks to God the Father for everything,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 5:19,20

Here's a picture from my garden to lift your spirits this month of January:
