Garden Tour 6/5/18

June 5 - my grandfather Janowski's birthday and a great nieces' birthday.

Iris' are still pretty.  Lovely daily reminder of who gave me which ones.

I recommend the blue sky as a backdrop when taking photos.
No blue sky this morning but this bronze on bark is complimentary.

Found this bee either slumbering at 8:00 or perhaps seeking cover from the raindrops.

One of my favs this year:  baptisia.

Another one of my favs this year:  lupines.

Forgot the name of this allium
which was given to me two years ago.

Ladies Mantel about ready to bloom.
Especially pretty after the rain.
Blooms make nice fillers in arrangements.

Salvia, which self seeds.

Lemon day lily, scented, with snow-on-the-mountain.
Nice composition.

Two types of ligularia foliage.
The first one will have tall spears of yellow.
This one is named Rocket.
The second one, with burgundy underside the leaves,
will have gold daisy-type flowers.

This composition of hosta and day lilies is also pleasing to me.

Lace-cap hydrangea forming buds.  Bees love it.  Scented.

See my Field of Dreams story on a previous post.

First evening primrose flower bloomed last night.

Always pretty, this Japanese maple from Lesley.
Star Gazer lilies and purple cone flower planted in this bed.
Pinks and burgundy complimentary.

Rhodo's especially lush this year.

Peonies opening this week.

Hosta garden always pleasing to the eye.
Not so pleased when deer visit.

Corner of hosta garden.  Trimming soon.

Poppy seedpod.  Always appealing.

Thinned out romaine this morning.
With spinach, dill sprigs, and leaf lettuce
will make a lettuce wrap for lunch.

 Snack time this week.
Now to deter the chipmunks and slugs.

Another pleasing composition.

This hosta seemed to be a bright ray of sunshine this rainy day.

The sun did make an appearance while I was taking photos.
Should have snapped a photo of where it shone through
in the yard.

No doubt about it,
this gray day will clear up later.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor.
Psalm 84:11
