AUGUST
I must confess
it's August -
seemingly far too soon.
Just yesterday it was
June.
The burning bush is
changing colors.
I need to deadhead
summer's spent flowers
and others being eaten by
bugs.
The potatoes need to be
dug.
Early produce has come and
gone.
Just where has the summer
gone?
Strawberry plants are
changing color.
There's a lot of orange
and gold flowers.
The mums are in bloom.
Isn't it too soon?
Brown eyed susans and
queen anne's lace plume.
Last night there was a
bright, full moon.
There is orange on the
pumpkins.
The crickets are heard
strumming.
It's been cooler in the
mornings
and dusk comes sooner in
the evenings.
The sunflowers have gone
to seed - already.
It can't be that time of
year already!
Where did the time go?
Do you happen to know?
Leaves are seen floating
down
where they lay on the
ground
in red, gold, and rust
this month of August.
It feels and acts like
autumn
as days quickly go and
come.
What happened to summer
when the days are funner?
There was much I intended
to get done
but seemingly summer has
come and gone.
This year went quicker
than last.
Soon August will be past.
* * * * *
A time for everything?
Not in my day
for on busy days time
quickly ticks away
with activity from
beginning to end
for there seems to be lots
inside and out to tend.
Strength seems to be
depleted
before jobs are completed.
If today did too much
then tomorrow is a bust.
Never caught up, it seems,
for who likes to clean?
What you accomplish today
has to be redone another
day.
Something that was
completed or accomplished once for all
was the plan of salvation
when Jesus died on the cross for all.
Jesus took your sins and
mine and crucified them
so that we could have new,
eternal life within.
By simply believing Jesus
paid the price
when He became our
once-for-all sacrifice,
we are guaranteed an
eternity in heaven
because our sins have been
forgotten and forgiven.
Now listen, you who say,
"Today or tomorrow
we will go to this or that city,
spend a year there,
carry on business and make money."
Why, you do not even
know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life?
You are a mist that
appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Instead, you ought to
say,
“If it is the Lord's
will, we will live and do this or that.”
James 4:13-15
If you confess with your
mouth,
"Jesus is Lord,"
and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.
For it is with your
heart that you believe and are justified,
and it is with your
mouth that you confess and are saved...
for, "Everyone who
calls on the name of the Lord
will be saved."
Romans 10:9-10,13
For we know that our old
self
was crucified with him
so that the body of sin
might be done away with,
that we should no longer
be slaves to sin.
Romans 6:6
