H2O
When H2O or rain showers came
off and on upon all of creation
to grow healthy plants and grains
the parched soil receives once again
a blessing contained
within the rain.
Though when "cats and dogs" rain
some plants become bane
and succumb under the strain
never to be upright again
from too much rain
in the lane.
Sometimes an outpouring of rain
drenches the damp, soaked, wet plants lain
in the gardener's cared-for lane
ready to stand upright again
but the mud overlain with rain
prevents the gardener who came.
Tomorrow he'll try again
to upright the plants lain
in the mud when rain came.
What a pain, but gains
grains from his pain
when plants, wane,
perk up again.
Other days the gardener will pray for rain
for sometimes days go by without any rain.
The gardener knows that much gain
comes with the advent of rain
for rain is a blessing from God ordained
upon all creatures and creation.
Rain showers came,
a welcome refrain,
as a sprinkle, then
poured as a shower, then
a storm soaked the plains
then new grains came.
The gardener's prayer was answered again.
He thanks God for this needed rain
and especially for hearing his plea which came
from a heart full of humble adoration -
again.
Amen.
* * * * *
We find blessings all around.
Many are found on the ground -
flowers to brighten our day,
vegetables to strengthen our way.
All that is needed to grow
is graciously bestowed
from the Lord God, our Creator, who reigns -
the seeds, the soil, the sun, the rain.
Next time it rains
thank God again
for His provision
and many blessings.
I will send you rain in its season,
and the ground will yield its crops
and the trees of the field their fruit.
Leviticus 26:4
I will send rain on your land in its season,
both autumn and spring rains,
so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and oil.
I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle,
and you will eat and be satisfied.
Deuteronomy 11:14-15
The Lord will open the heavens,
the storehouse of his bounty,
to send rain on your land in season
and to bless all the work of your hands.
Deuteronomy 28:12
...like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants.
Deuteronomy 32:2
He draws up the drops of water,
which distill as rain to the streams;
the clouds pour down their moisture
and abundant showers fall on mankind.
Job 36:27-28
You gave abundant showers, O God;
you refreshed your weary inheritance.
Psalm 68:9
He covers the sky with clouds;
he supplies the earth with rain
and makes grass grow on the hills.
Psalm 147:8
Your heavens above, rain down righteousness;
let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open wide,
let salvation spring up,
let righteousness grow with it;
I, the Lord, have created it.
