Peace and Good Will

The angels who came to earth promised
with assurance, much more than a wish,
peace:  peace on earth -
from the Savior's birth.

Yet wars are fought for years on end.
Will peace ever descend?
And if not war, famine and disease
cause the human soul to harden and freeze.

It's a fight to survive everyday -
rather hunger or missles bring decay.
Will peace ever reign?
Will joy replace pain?

Today there are busy shoppers everywhere.
Is peacefulness seen on faces there?
Stress and worry prevail.
Joy is illusive or fails.

Things do not bring lasting joy or peace.
Discontent is like a hungry beast.
Just glace around and you will see
peace is missing, unfortunately.

And where is the good will?
Quite often it is ill will
that is bestowed on others -
even our blood brothers.

Years of hurtfulness tears families apart
creating heartache and hardness of heart.
Good will toward others is absent.
Lack of love is apparent.

What happened to the peace and good will of the first Christmas?
It doesn't appear to be appeased with lots of presents.
It's not too late to be found
for in Christ, true peace abounds.

* * * * *

Have you noticed peace and good will is missing at Christmas?
Do you suppose it's because we omit Jesus?
Even the listened to 'quote' "Christmas"
music omits the Christ of Christmas.

Santa Claus is celebrated.
Shopping is overstated.
"Merry Christmas" is negated
with "Happy Holidays" stated.

There's a perception from childhood
that Christmas brings, joy, as it should,
but true joy isn't found in receiving
it's the joy that's found in believing.

Your only hope for true joy and peace
is found in the Savior, the Lord Jesus.
It's not in presents,
but in His presence!

Jesus is the reason for the season.

Recently my dog was diagnosed with Lyme.  Since then I've been contacting my circle of friends to have their dogs checked.  From these contacts I've learned that there is a shot available to guard against Lyme.  In memory of my fur baby, please have your pets vaccinated, and please inform your circle of friends that there is a shot available.  Thank you.
