Afternoon Stroll Last Day of August

This chilly, breezy day found many happy bees at work.

Rose hips:

Happy to find this self-seeded johnny-jump-up!

 Hibiscus:

 Two Rose of Sharons:

Fall-bearing strawberries:

Dug a few potatoes for potato salad this holiday weekend:

Two dahlias, wintered over in basement for several years.  Thank you Connie and George.

Love lies bleeding.  Thank you, Ruby.

Begonia.  Thank you, Lesley.

Mallow.  Thank you, Kathie.

Fall flowers:

Yarrow.  Thank you, mom.

Milkweed.  Host plant for monarchs.
 Last rose of summer:

Zinnias still blooming:

This seed came up in brush pile.  A pumpkin/gourd cross.

Thank you, Andre, for the red Hiawatha beans.  Saving seeds for next year.

Russian sage and pink mums:

Datura which bloomed last night:

Tri-lobe rudbeckia behind the compost.  Whatever comes up around the compost does the best.

August's favorite flowers.  A bee favorite as well!

A sign that autumn is near - harvest approaching!

Would love to see your garden photos!
