Transformation

TRANSFORMATION

When I grow up
                         what will I be?
                                                 You'll just have to
                                                                              wait and see.

                                                                             Here

I am

in a

cocoon.

I’m

under-

going a

trans-

forma-

tion.

Now here I am.  Here in a stamen.

Look quick for I'm quick.  Look again.

Now do you see me? I have stripes and spots.

I’m over here – see.  I have a lot of spots.

o --------- I have two eyes and wings dyed.

o --------- Now look for me up in the sky.

Then down I come for I am hungry

for something yummy to eat. My lunch is free.

Will I chose red, pink, orange, purple or yellow?

I share with the bees.  I’m a happy fellow.

As a butterfly undergoes a metamorphosis,

we too undergo a lifelong transformation process.

We are being changed from the inside out.

There’s a new creature waiting to be let out.

Salvation is not the end of the process -

that’s when you ask Jesus into your heart/confess.

That’s just the beginning

to a life transformation.

To rid ourselves of the old nature

and put on the new Christ-like nature.

To put off selfishness, lying, and jest,

anger, impurity, and all the rest.

While filling the now empty space

with something wholesome in its place -

like compassion and kindness,

thankfulness and forgiveness.

It’s not always easy to give up self

but the Lord is always nearby to help.

When you are tempted to give in,

pray to God for His strength within.

Put off your old self,

which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;

to be made new in the attitude of your minds;

and to put on the new self,

created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24

Put off falsehood and speak truthfully..

and do not give the devil a foothold…

He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work,

doing something useful with his own hands,

that he may have something to share with those in need…

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths,

but only what is helpful for building others up …

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger,

brawling and slander, along with every form of malice…

Be kind and compassionate to one another,

forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you…

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children

and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us…

there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality,

or of any kind of impurity, or of greed,

because these are improper for God’s holy people…

Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking,

which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving…

Ephesians 4:25-5:4

Put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature:

sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires,

and greed which is idolatry.

You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.

But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these:

anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

Do not lie to each other,

since you have taken off your old self with its practices

and have put on the new self,

which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

Colossians 3:5-10
