Dance

Without sound of audible recorded music
a dance is orchestrated with just a flick
of two fluttering wings that gracefully float
as if tuned in to a scale of soundless notes.

Quietly seen whirling
then suddenly twirling,
sailing up around,
then floating down.

The air becomes the ballroom
for these colorful wings that zoom
ascending
then descending.

Descending because
perfumed blooms give pause
so a nutrition intermission
takes place at a feeding station.

Colorful blooms which daily attract their attention
or blooming herbs for a wonderful taste sensation.
A rainbow of delights
entice these dancers in flight.

After their thirst is quenched
the dance resumes, thence,
gossamer wings flutter in a quiet waltz -
fast, slow, whirl, twirl, flutter high with a flourish.

Seen gracefully glide then flirt
with an uplifting of their skirt.
'Catch me if you can', they might say
on warm sunny, summer days.

A graceful bow, then a wave bye-bye
before disappearing into the sky.
Lepidopterous.
They're quite glorious!

Sometimes we're so weighed down with our troubles
that we lose the joy always available.
How do we get joy back?
Here's a few known facts:

Counting our blessings is one sure way
to add unending joy to our days.
Music is another choice
that causes us to rejoice.

Giving our time to others tends
to add abundant joy without end.
Gardening provides much joy
as creation is enjoyed.

Prayers will put us back
on the right track
as God is the source of all joy
as His faithfulness we enjoy.

You'll find prayer will lessen any heartache
and once again your joy will awake.
Your spirit will sing with joyfulness
when you focus on God's faithfulness.

Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me;
O Lord, be my help.
You turned may wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.
Psalm 30:10-12

Lepidopterous is the Latin word for butterflies.
