Ode to Butterfly Bush

Tie-dyed, brightly-colored gossamer wings rush
on sunny days to the butterfly bush
where arching purple plumes of perfumed flowers
attract just-hatched butterflies of all colors.

Two, three orange-stripped monarchs quietly alite
seeking nutrition before day turns to night.
Orange wings among purple flowers, a striking color combination,
or is it the butterfly bush's fragrance that garners attention?

A black cloak with blue tails
floats in, on the air he sails.
His surprise visit
only lasts a minute.

Another black butterfly
comes down from the clear blue sky.
It's a black swallowtail with a horizontal yellow strip.
Too soon he flies up, up and away as high as a kite.

Admirals and painted ladies share
as they sip tea, a delightful fare.
Perhaps a time-honored tradition from long ago
when gents courted ladies, before reciting wedding vows.

An interloper abuzz.
Look quick, there he was.
A hummingbird moth sips
then flies away quick!

This busy cafe, the butterfly bush,
where garden guests stop for a free lunch
also feeds the bees
while entertaining me.

Isn't it neat how God supplies
just what we need - for you and I.
As God provides for the birds, bees, and butterflies
He has a good plan to bless you - and I.

Not only our daily needs
but many wants, indeed,
because God loves unconditionally
and through His everlasting love, personally.

Our physical and emotional needs are met
through daily prayer and personal fellowship.
Go to the power source
by seeking God first.

Do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?'
or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we eat?'
Your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness
and all these things will be given to you as well.
Do not worry about tomorrow.
Matthew 6:31-34

I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

I will bless you...and...
you will be a blessing.
Genesis 12:2
