Consider the texture of evergreens when designing your garden:

 Day lilies (from a neighbor).
(Be sure to appreciate the texture and colors of bark as well.)

 Chives

 Iris (from an uncle).

Day lily and iris' foliage decorates your yard the entire season.

Umbrella-shaped foliage is unique:
 Lenton Rose/Hellebore

 Lupines

Ladies Mantel
(Especially pretty with dewdrops or after it rains.)

Who could forget "lion's tooth!"

Don't forget glossy foliage:
Rhodo

Succulents:
Creeping Sedum (from Lesley).

Autumn Joy Sedum (from mom).

 Hens and Chicks

Many leaves are heart-shaped (a reminder that your Creator loves you):
 Wild Violets
(Did you know these flowers and leaves are edible.)

Perennial Forget-Me-Nots (from Lesley).

Who could forget the largest leaves of all:  Hostas
 (From mom.)

 (Both from Lesley.)

Though flowers garner the most attention in our gardens,
their foliage definitely deserves to be appreciated.
After all, flowers only last a short while
while foliage will grace your garden the entire season.

More poppies every day:

Lupines.  A couple of flower heads open yesterday.  This morning - Wow!

Iris - Cross breed between old fashioned and siberian:

Rosa - most blooms ever:

Rhodo - humidity is speeding up the blooming process:

Other fruits of my labor forthcoming - strawberries, black caps, red currants:

I see fields of green and colorful flowers too
and I think to myself "what a wonderful world!"
